Strengthening Arizona's Relationship with Physicians

Physician-led. Patient-focused.

Physician-led. Patient-focused.

The Arizona Medical Association has joined more than 30 states in a campaign to strengthen America’s relationship with physicians and highlight the importance of the physician-patient relationship for quality patient care.

Physicians are compassionate healers and their patients’ strongest allies.

They persevered through years of medical school and residency to build connections with, treat, and heal their patients. Every day, they aim to provide the highest quality of care – it’s what all those hours and all of that training prepared them for. This is their calling; what drives them every day.

Physicians' best days come when they are close at hand with their patients, facing challenges head-on and providing support to patients in their journey to good health.

Physicians are Patients' Strongest Allies in Health

Yet in recent years, physicians have faced reputational challenges brought on by broader frustrations within healthcare.

Americans want to see more of their physicians — 89% of national voters agree that the doctor-patient relationship is central to health care — yet too often, the system gets in the way.

Now more than ever, physicians find themselves stuck between a desire to connect with patients and a need to navigate seemingly endless red tape and bureaucracy.

Your Care is at Our Core was created to elevate the message of what drives physicians: trust, empathy, compassion, and time caring and fighting for their patients — emphasizing that their personal relationship with patients is a priority and a commitment.

And, while physicians center their energy on delivering the best possible patient care, the Arizona Medical Association is fighting to build a healthcare landscape that best serves your health.

Reforming Prior Authorization

More than 1 in 4 physicians reported that prior authorization has led to a serious adverse event for a patient in their care. Arizona physicians are reforming the health care system to keep treatment decisions between a patient and their physician.

Protecting Medicaid Access

Every patient deserves a physician to be on their side, explaining health conditions, answering questions, and ensuring patients truly understand their care. Medicaid protects a physician’s ability to provide care by ensuring access for the patients who need it most.

Overseeing Scope of Practice

Driven by a calling to heal, physicians devote years to the education and training needed to advocate for patients, guide informed health care decisions, and lead care teams. By bringing every member of the care team together, physicians lead high-quality healthcare.

Regulating AI in Healthcare

While AI stands to transform healthcare and the patient experience, it also poses a severe threat to high-quality care if used inappropriately. ArMA is committed to championing meaningful regulation of AI in healthcare and commercial medical insurance.

Alleviating Workforce Shortages

Arizona faces a dire healthcare workforce shortage. Projections show that the state will fulfill only 57% of the demand for primary care by 2038. We are working with a network of stakeholders to address shortages from every angle and increase access.

Improving Patient Care

As healthcare evolves, so too should our laws. The physician community continues to champion common-sense legislation to broaden access to and coverage for life-saving treatments and procedures, including cancer screenings and other preventative measures.
