The Emerging Physician Advocacy Program breaks down barriers by offering a variety of point-earning activities at every level — from following policymakers on social media to testifying at the state capitol.

By becoming a member, you drive efforts to address some of healthcare's largest issues, including access to care, insurance reform, public health, and more.
How To Earn Points
- Choose from a wide range of activities across the six categories listed below.
- Note each activity's associated point value and maximum threshold.
- Track your participation from July 16, 2026 through July 15, 2027 — you may record past activities retroactively.
Social Media
Follow a political office holder or candidate.....1 pt each
Comment on the social media account of a political office holder or candidate related to a current policy.....2 pts each (max 20 pts)
Share or repost advocacy content from a legislator or medical organization.....2 pts each (max 20 pts)
Create a post on social media advocating for a specific policy or issue.....3 pts each (max 30 pts)
Follow the Arizona Medical Association (@arizonamedicine) and other local medical associations or societies.....1 pt each (max 5 pts)
Advocacy Organizations
Maintain an Arizona Medical Association membership.....15 pts
Attend a meeting mainly for education about advocacy.....5 pts per hour
Donate $25 to a medical organization's PAC (political action committee).....5 pts per donation (max 20 pts)
Attend a meeting of an organization making decisions about policy and advocacy strategies (e.g., ArMA Town Hall, ArMA Policymaking Webinar, etc.).....10 pts per hour
Recruit a colleague to join a healthcare advocacy organization, program, or committee.....15 pts per colleague
Attend a meeting of an organization making decisions about policymaking or advocacy strategies while also a voting member of the organization.....20 pts per hour
Serve on a committee or task force with a healthcare advocacy focus.....20 pts per hour
Organize or lead a meeting to educate others about advocacy.....30 pts per hour
Campaigns
Volunteer for a political campaign.....20 pts per hour (max 200 pts)
Donate $25 to a political campaign.....5 pts each (max 20 pts)
Policy
Maintain an active RTS account at the Arizona State Capitol....5 pts
Signal your support or opposition on a bill being considered by the Arizona Legislature through the Request-to-Speak system, including a comment.....5 pts per bill
Write an email, make a phone call, or mail a postcard to a legislator or executive branch member expressing an opinion on a specific policy or issue.....5 pts per issue
Submit written comments on a state or federal agency's proposed regulation.....5 pts per issue
Co-author, or contribute to, a policy proposal submitted to a medical organization.....15 pts per policy (max 60 pts)
Attend a legislative committee hearing in person.....15 pts per policy (max 60 pts)
Meet with a legislator (or staffer) or executive branch member (or staffer) to discuss a specific policy or issue.....30 pts per meeting
Sign up to testify on a bill at the Arizona State Capitol, write a 2-minute testimony, and be prepared to present your insight in front of the committee.....30 pts per hearing
Write an op-ed on a specific policy issue and submit it to a local news outlet for publication.....30 pts per op-ed
Build Relationships
Know the names of your State Senator (1), State Representatives (2), and US Congress member (1).....4 pts
Attend a legislator's town hall or press conference as an audience member.....10 pts per event
Attend a "Day @ the Capitol" event with the Arizona Medical Association or another medical group.....15 pts per event
Participate in the Arizona Medical Association's Doctor of the Day program.....20 pts
Meet with a legislator or executive branch member (or staffer) between sessions or not related to a particular issue.....30 pts per meeting
Host a legislator to shadow you or tour your clinic or hospital.....50 points
Voting
Be registered to vote in Arizona.....5 pts
Vote in Arizona's General, Primary, or Special Elections.....5 pts per election
Ask a patient if they are registered to vote, provide information about how to check their registration, and/or help them register to vote.....5 pts per patient (max 50 pts)
Ensure family and friends are registered to vote in Arizona's elections.....5 pts per person (max 50 pts)
Use ArMPAC's Voter Guide, published before Arizona's General & Primary Elections, to inform your vote for physician-friendly candidates.....5 pts per election
Volunteer to support voting fidelity activities (i.e. poll worker).....20 pts per hour (max 200 pts)
Help organize a voter registration drive for a community event.....20 pts per hour (max 200 pts)
