Sara Beste, MD, MPH
The David O. Landrith Humanitarian Award is presented to an individual who selflessly works to improve their community, just as the award’s namesake, ArMA’s long-time lobbyist, did before his passing. This year’s recipient is Dr. Sara Beste
As Endowed Chair and Co-Director of Pediatric Medicine at St. Vincent de Paul, Dr. Beste creates a vital bridge between hospitals and community care. By partnering with St. Joseph’s Hospital to refer uninsured newborns to the Piper Clinic, a free clinic run by St. Vincent de Paul, she ensures Arizona families don’t fall through the cracks. These efforts provide essential early medical care for infants and also reduce strain on emergency departments. This year, she was named the Piper Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine. Dr. Beste's impact extends beyond direct patient care. As an associate professor at Creighton University, she is preparing the next generation of physicians to serve marginalized communities through the Arrupe Global Scholars program, ensuring compassionate, community-focused care continues in the future.
