Hobbs' Appointee for State Medicaid Agency Resigns

The Office of Governor Katie Hobbs announced that Virginia "Ginny" Rountree resigned from her role as director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, the state's Medicaid agency. Rountree served in the role for less than six months after being appointed by Governor Hobbs in late September 2025. 


According to the Governor's press release, Rountree decided to resign due to personal health concerns after "deep consideration and conversations" with family. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside agencies and individuals who "all are committed to serving our members and nurturing collaborative and productive partnerships."



Rountree's final day with the agency will be February 13. The Governor's Office did not share any information on when a new appointment is expected.
