On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced the creation of the Arizona Surge Line, a new service for hospitals and their providers to ensure COVID-19 patients receive appropriate inpatient placement. The call line is now live, toll-free, and open 24/7. Hospitals can call at any time and arrange for the transfer of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases to facilities that can provide a more appropriate level of care.
The Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) worked closely with ADHS to staff this important initiative. Both ArMA and ADHS expect that the Arizona Surge Line will serve a vital role in the state during any present or future surge of COVID-19 patients. ADHS is also seeking critical care and palliative care physicians who would be willing to volunteer their time for this initiative.

It is ArMA’s mission to promote and provide leadership in the art and science of medicine; to preserve and improve the health of all Arizonans; to represent Arizona physicians in the public forum; and to defend Arizona physicians’ freedom and ability to practice medicine in the best interests of your patients.
